My Birthday is coming....as a gift to you...I will answer this question as only I can.
This is not a tease...this is a promise...to you and to myself.
I will not let you down.
Between now and Saturday (that is my birthday) I will take questions (@ DParrish2@gmail.com) to give a certain focus to my answer. I also challenge every brother within eyesight of my font to address this question on their respective blogs., ESPECIALLY The Best Man (who needs a blog of his own for me to link, even if he doesnt actually post on it) who I will encourage to post an essay on this question during my imminent vacation.
Happy Reading

The Underground Railroad is essentially serving as my blog inasmuch as Quintus and Talib haven't posted much of anything since Kwanzaa.
If the question is "What does it mean to be a Black Man?" then I'm almost afraid to answer that in print - there's an outside chance that I may actually run for office one of these days, and the vitriol that would flow from the crevices of my soul when replying to that inquiry would make fund-raising an absolute impossibility - you know Black folk ain't got no money to give to public servants who are running for office. Folks got ends for a half-pound of shrimps and to go get their hair and nails done (and, of course, their rims and speakers), but not for anything that might actually affect their lot in life.
Did you hear the tête-à-tête on Doug Banks about tithing?
I'll get to work on the essay but it very well may come in at about 5000 words or so.
